Behind the Scenes
A few behind the scenes about what goes on in our lives as flight attendants.
Zzz Lounge
We have a wonderful room dedicated for sleep. Genius, and ever so needed. Whether it's in between flights or if you had to commute (fly) in for work, any moment you have for a quick nap makes a big difference in this line of work.
KCM
After our intensive background checks, we get a little badge that let's us skip the regular TSA line. We go through what is a "known crew member" security line and the rules of the general public do not apply to us while in uniform.
No Fly List
Believe it or not, we have something called the "no fly list". Basically, if there is someone you really detest working with, you just add their information to your bid (work schedule preference) and you'll never fly with them again. This does not guarantee you won't run into them unfortunately.
Code Lingo
Crew members and pretty much everyone in the aviation industry speak in codes/acronyms. Most of the times we'll refer to passengers by their seat name. I remember one time while working on the drink cart, my crew member handed me a drink and told me to pass it to "Frank", I was so confused. Foxtrot is the correct acronym let me just say, but she was referring to the man sitting in F. We both couldn't stop laughing.
Call Light
Ever rang the call light and got an annoyed flight attendant? That is because in training we are taught to respond to calls lights as though it is an emergency. So unless it is completely urgent, it can wait and don't press it.
Delays
Let's not even talk about delays. You're annoyed, we're annoyed. We are extra annoyed because we are not getting paid :(
Lastly if you are a genuinely nice human, your flight crew will make your flight extremely comfortable and enjoyable, being kind is free and could possibly land you a free drink.. just saying :)
xoxo,
Guadalupe♥️
